Want to protect WNC’s streams? This workshop trains adults (high school and up) in water quality monitoring methods. Topics include basic stream ecology, how to report water quality problems, aquatic insect identification, and stream sampling skills. No experience necessary! Donations accepted but not required for participation. RSVP required (firstname.lastname@example.org or 828-357-7411). For more information, visit www.eqilab.org.
The SMIE training will take place on Saturday, April 6th at Haywood Community College. We will spend the morning in a lab learning stream ecology and aquatic macroinvertebrate identification. We will break for lunch (bring your own) and then carpool to a nearby stream where we will practice the sampling methods in the field. Please be sure to dress appropriately.
