Join Haywood Waterways and partners for a discussion about Haywood County’s watersheds, water quality, wildlife, and the conservation work being done for their protection and improvement. Haywood County has abundant clean water but there are issues, particularly in response to changing land use and population. Guest speakers include:

  1. Neil Carpenter, Maggie Valley Sanitary District – Water supply watershed and drinking water protection,
  2. Luke Etchison, NC Wildlife Resources Commission – Aquatic diversity of the Pigeon River watershed,
  3. Trey Talley, Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy – Land protection work in Haywood County.

Over the month of April, 733 people volunteered their time with 23 nonprofit groups to take part in 58 workdays and service opportunities throughout WNC!  Our business and community challenge also brought 11 business teams and community groups into the fold.
