High Country Hemlock Treatment Volunteer Day
April 19 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm| Free
This event has been POSTPONED due to inclement weather. Check back here or on the Hemlock Restoration Initiative’s website for updates.
Join the Hemlock Restoration Initiative (HRI) and the Blue Ridge Conservancy (BRC) on Friday, April 19 for a hemlock treatment volunteer day in the High Country. We will be chemically treating hemlock trees on the property of the Valle Crucis Conference Center in Banner Elk, NC.
North Carolina’s hemlocks are threatened by an invasive insect called the hemlock woolly adelgid. This tiny bug makes a big impact, and it has sadly killed many beautiful hemlock trees already. However, there is hope: HRI utilizes chemical insecticide, among other strategies, as a fast-acting and proven effective method to stop the adelgid and save the hemlocks. With the help of volunteers, HRI has protected thousands of hemlocks, and you can be part of that number by joining us to treat the hemlocks of Valle Crucis Conference Center, a BRC-conserved property, on April 19.
If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, you must RSVP by signing up on our website at http://savehemlocksnc.org/volunteer/. If you have any questions, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. We can’t wait to see you and save the hemlocks!
